Hurtling Toward the Void

Me: “How long is the wait?”
Hostess: “About 20 minutes.”
Woman behind me in line: “Even for the bar?”
Hostess: “Yes, it just depends on what opens up.”
Woman: “So we have to wait for a drink?”
Hostess: “Yes. I’m sorry.”
Woman: “Look, half the people at the bar aren’t even drinking! They’re just eating!”
Hostess: ::shrugs::
Me: “If this was Arizona, we could probably have them deported to the dining room.”
