Pulled an all-nighter to drive to Kennedy Space Center and watch the shuttle launch. I’d never been to one before, and I’ll admit I was skeptical — especially considering the hours of waiting around in bad weather for something that may not even happen. When there was a failure at T-minus-33, I figured, “Well, so much for that.” But they resolved it quickly and resumed the countdown and suddenly it was brighter and louder than a thousand KISS concerts.

Worth the drive? Hell yes it was.
